Download Floating Todos
Free beta · macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later · Apple silicon & Intel
Drag FloatingTodos.app from the dmg into Applications, then read the note below.
macOS will warn on first launch. Beta builds are ad-hoc signed — not yet notarized with an Apple Developer ID — so Gatekeeper flags the app as from an unidentified developer. It takes one step to open; pick either option below.
Option 1 — clear the quarantine flag (recommended)
After copying the app into Applications, run this in Terminal:
xattr -cr /Applications/FloatingTodos.app
This removes the quarantine attribute macOS attaches to downloaded files. The app then launches normally, now and on every update you install by hand.
Option 2 — approve it in System Settings
- Right-click
FloatingTodos.appin Applications and choose Open. macOS shows the warning and blocks the launch. - Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the Security section, and click Open Anyway next to the Floating Todos message.
- Confirm once more in the dialog that follows.
On macOS 15 (Sequoia) and later the old right-click → Open shortcut alone is no longer enough — the Open Anyway step in System Settings is required. You only do this once.
First launch
Floating Todos runs as a menu-bar app — no Dock icon. Press ⌥⌘T to summon the panel, and start with Getting Started.
Signed and notarized builds (plus Sparkle auto-updates) are coming as the beta stabilizes.
